Celebrating our Volunteers Month – Part 1

As we enter the month of October, we start to celebrate OSCAs (Outstanding Service to Cricket Awards) by honouring the people and clubs who have made a difference during this uncertain and difficult season.

To start off we are going to look at our first nomination in the Connecting Communities category –

Grimoldby Cricket Club

During lockdown, the East Lindsey Cricket League side saw that families within their club and local community had an increase in their fitness regimes and wanted to help. To aid this they set up a club-based Strava group and came up with the challenge to visit all 18 First Class County grounds, starting and ending at their Priory Lane home ground & amassing 2,873 miles worth of exercise in total.

The club saw good interaction, not just from the club but also the local community, schools and other clubs in the area, with a total of 25 people joining the club’s Strava group.

We congratulate the club on their vision and creativity in bringing their community together to help people have a focus during a difficult time and contribute to people’s physical & mental well-being.
