Celebrating our volunteers month- Part 4

Our latest instalment in our Volunteer Celebration Month looks at Horncastle’s Rob Bee, who has been nominated in the OSCAs #raisethebat category.

Rob is a volunteer hero as Horncastle CC’s club chairman and Sunday XI captain. As well as ensuring the club gets full teams out each weekend, he spends countless hours at the club preparing pitches & fixing sightscreens and covers when necessary.

With the club looking for a new kit sponsor, Rob came up with the idea to do a sponsorship raffle for businesses in the local community. For just £25 a ticket, businesses can become a match ball sponsor & go into the hat to become the club’s kit sponsor when the draw takes place later in October. The club sold 58 tickets in just two weeks in September, 51 of which were sold by Rob – that’s £1,275 raised by Rob alone!

Local businesses have really got behind this initiative and it has created lots of excitement in the local community around the cricket club.

In addition, Rob founded the Horncastle Midweek 8s five years ago, which brings local businesses and groups together to play in a tournament at the club – he has already been proactive in sending out invites and information for the 2021 event.
We congratulate Rob on his nomination & salute him for the magnificent work he does for his club and community.
