There is now 1 week to go until the Lincolnshire Hundred event at Lindum CC.  This one off exhibition match between an invitational Premier League XI and a Lincolnshire Legends XI is sponsored by the University of Lincoln School of Sport and Exercise and will be played to the Hundred ball format, under floodlights as part of the Lindum CC, Floodlit cricket festival on Friday the 23rd August.


On the night a Lincolnshire Premier League XI, featuring some of the best players currently playing in the highest level of recreational cricket in the county will take on a ‘Lincolnshire Legends XI’ featuring some of the best cricketers to have represented Lincolnshire over the past 20 years.  The final of the Lindum floodlit festival will take place after the Lincolnshire Hundred match.

Featuring in the Lincolnshire Premier League XI will be:


James Morgan, Market Deeping CC:

Representing Market Deeping on the night will be current club captain James Morgan.  James has played over 200 times for Market Deeping and has a highest premier league score of 121 to go along with a highest club score of 204 not out.  James has 2 premier league centuries to his name and 14 scores of 50 or more.


Premier League captain, Pete Morgan:

Captain for the Premier league on the night will be current Bourne player Pete Morgan.  Pete has been one of the leading run scorers in the Lincs premier league for a number of years.  Pete is 9th in the all-time list of league leading run scorers with more than 6000 runs to his name.  Pete has 11 league centuries and 38 scores of 50 or more.  in addition, Pete also represented Lincolnshire CCC and has a highest championship score of 130.


Appearing for the legends will be:


Simon Oakes, ex Lincolnshire CCC (1996 – 2003):

A fast bowler by trade, Simon terrorised minor county batsmen from 96 to 03 taking over 100 wickets (118) in the 38 matches that he played for the county.  Simon had a career bowling average of 24 and a best of 6/27.  Simon was also a handy lower order batsman and has the claim to fame of hitting his first scoring shot on debut for LIncs for six against first class opposition (Gloucestershire) in the C&G competition.


Bobby (Robert) Chapman, ex Nottinghamshire, Worcestershire & LIncs (2000 – 2005)

Another quick bowler and lower order batter, Bobby is another of the legends with first class cricket experience.  Bobby made his professional debut for Nottinghamshire before moving to Worcestershire. In all bobby played 32 first class matches and took 71 wickets with a best of 6/105.  Bobby joined Lincolnshire in 2000 and played 23 matches for the county taking 48 wickets in total at 28.


Matt Carter, current Nottinghamshire CCC, Lincolnshire (2013 – present)

The only of the legends who is also a current professional cricketer.  Matt is part of the current Nottinghamshire CCC playing squad having made his first class debut in dramatic style in 2015 when he took 10 wickets in his first class debut against Somerset.  Matt has gone on to play 13 first games, 16 List A games and 8 T20 matches where he has recently been taking the new ball in the T20 blast for Nottinghamshire.  Matt can still be seen occasionally playing for Lincs when Nott’s commitments allow and to date he has taken 66 wickets in the 17 matches that he has played for the county.


The final release of Lincolnshire Legends and confirmation of both sides will be made early next week.
