On Tuesday 14th May Lincolnshire cricket and 2020 community sport ran its second instalment of the Lords Taverners Table cricket competition for 2019. Following on from the successful event in March, yesterday saw teams from St Francis School in Lincoln, Eresby School, in Spilsby and Linkage College in Lincoln take part in a competition fun day.
All 3 teams had a really good day, with lots of smiling faces. Neil and Jane from 2020 community sport have been delivering coaching sessions throughout the spring in readiness for this event, which is funded by Lords Taverners.
In terms of results, Linkage college were the overall winners, Eresby came 2nd and St Francis finished in 3rd position.
The staff were very happy with how the day went…
“what a great activity I have never seen this before” – Linkage Staff Member
“what a great inclusive sport, I am really impressed by the way you are able to adapt it to enable everybody to play” – St Francis Staff Member
“This has been a great experience for all our students. In particular the way the programme was structured with Neil and Jane coming in and coaching and then us practicing on our own and then coming out for a day to represent the school as well as having such a great time. We can’t thank you enough” – Eresby Staff Member
Looking forward, Lincolnshire cricket are about to start formulating plans for an expanded table cricket offer from 2020 onwards and introducing a kwik cricket offer for schools and community groups too.
The winners from the competition earlier in the Year – Linkage College Grimsby, have subsequently gone on to represent Lincolnshire at the regional finals in Derby in early May – more news on how they did to come…
