NatWest OSCAs 2012

Lincolnshire NatWest OSCAs 2012

BECOME AN OFFICIAL EVENT SPONSOR!!

DATE ANNOUNCED - Tuesday 11th September at Hemswell Court

Following on from a very successful OSCAs ceremony in 2011, we are looking forward to a similar night again this year. This is not possible, however, without the nominations of lincolnshire_oscas_2012great cricketing volunteers.

The aim of the NatWest OSCAs (Outstanding Services to Cricket Awards) is to recognise and reward those volunteers who give their time to the game of cricket - without the individuals, the game would not survive. It is fair to say that cricket could not survive without its huge army of unsung heroes; volunteering, includes everyone who gives their time in some way to help the game, for example making teas at a fixtures and website design and upkeep of information, through to groundsmanship or coaching junior teams.

Every nominee will be a 'NatWest OSCA Winner' and as such will receive a certificate. Later on this year, we will be holding an event where each of the category winners will be announced. The seven Lincolnshire winners are then invited to attend the National OSCAs held at Lords in the Autumn.

Hear from one of our 2011 winners, Sue Shorthouse, who won the Behind the Scenes award for her outstanding work at Sleaford CC. She has been the prominent coordinator for the Chance to Shine scheme and gives up a great deal of her own time to administrate the juniors, in addition to many other tasks.

"In 2011, Sleaford Cricket Club, nominated 14 people for a variety of OSCA's including Behind the Scenes and Young Volunteer.

As Junior Co-ordinator I am very aware of all the hard work everybody at the club puts in, managing and running a busy cricket club is very demanding and could not be done without dedicated volunteers. We have annual presentation evenings where we thank everyone for their time and effort, but last year I decided I wanted to make a more public thank you and the OSCA's were a great platform to do this.

The evening was great, the majority of our nominees attended and it gave us a chance to mix socially outside the cricket club as well as saying thank you for all their hard work. The OSCA'S have proven to have had a longer lasting beneficial effect to our club as I feel we have a real team feeling within the junior section.

For people lucky enough to win their category there was the opportunity to attend Lords Cricket Ground for a meal with several current England players, an opportunity not to be missed.

The OSCAs is a great way to thank those tireless volunteers that every club has."
