Lincolnshire Association of Cricket Officials

The ECB Association of Cricket Officials in Lincolnshire runs the programme of training courses and overseas the appointments across the county for county matches and some local leagues. There are also 4 branches which currently sit within this servicing the Scunthorpe, Grimsby, Lincoln and Stamford areas.

Courses are run in January of each year by fully qualified and experienced tutors and are generally run over 4 weeks, finalised with an exam.

Umpires are an integral part of the game and without them we can not play the game we love. We are growing increasingly short of umpires in Lincolnshire so we highly encourage you to get involved if you are interested. If you are young but don’t perhaps see yourself as a player but want to be a part of the game them there is a good opportunity for you to progress through the pathway to higher standards of umpiring in Minor Counties, Second XI and even the professional game.

New Umpires Courses for 2018 – Bracebridge Heath & Market Deeping

There will be two Umpire Courses at Bracebridge Heath CC early in 2018. Each course will last for two Saturdays from 10am to 4pm each day. In addition we are running courses at Market Deeping – Please see below for more details.

Bracebridge Heath Courses:

The new way of organising courses for those interested in becoming an umpire is to view the Laws of Cricket online before the start of the first course. This enables new umpires to take the Courses.

Course 1: Covers an overview of the basic Laws of the game and how to apply them and an introduction to the principles of field craft and match management.

Course 2: Covers further Laws and explores the concept of working as part of a team including the skills and knowledge required to be a member of a League Panel of umpires.

Bookings for the courses are online and can be accessed by using the links below.

Course 1 costs £30 and includes the first year’s membership to ECB ACO (which in its self is £30). A confirming email is sent to each applicant with a code to gain a discount for Course 2.

Course 2 normally costs £30 but this is reduced to £10 if booked straight away using the discount code.

Bracebridge Heath Dates:

Course 1:  27th January and 3rd February    http://booking.ecb.co.uk/d/7tqwmt

Course 2:  24th February and 3rd March      http://booking.ecb.co.uk/d/mtqw8b

The changes to the Laws of Cricket can be found on the MCC website. The online eLearning of the Laws of Cricket is available to anyone who would like to see them free of charge at www.lords.org/mcc/laws-of-cricket/elearning

It is recommended that everybody involved in cricket familiarises themselves with the Law Changes and their relevance to the rest of the  Laws of Cricket before the start of next season.
