With a month to go until the Lincolnshire Hundred, Lincolnshire Cricket are delighted to announce some of the players that will feature in this one off exhibition match.

 

The match will be played to the Hundred ball format, under floodlights as part of the Lindum CC, Floodlit cricket festival on Friday the 23rd August.

 

On the evening an invitational Lincolnshire Premier League XI, featuring some of the best players currently playing in the highest level of recreational cricket in the county will take on a ‘Lincolnshire Legends XI’ featuring some of the best cricketers to have represented Lincolnshire over the past 20 years.  The final of the Lindum CC floodlit festival will take place after the Lincolnshire Hundred match.

 

Featuring in the Lincolnshire Premier League XI will be:

 

Dan Freeman, Grantham CC:

Arguably the counties leading all-rounder, Dan currently plays for Grantham CC and is a key member of the current Lincolnshire CCC squad.  Last season Dan scored over 1000 league runs for Grantham and is currently the leading wicket taker in the county this season with 30 wickets.

 

Jack Timby, Woodhall Spa CC:

Another Lincolnshire Cricketer who currently represents the senior county side. Jack is a wicket keeper batsman who currently plays for league topping Woodhall Spa CC.  Jack is currently in the top 5 leading run scorers in the county and has just passed the 1000 run mark for LCCC.

 

Rob Cook, Lindum CC:

Another prolific all-rounder and current captain of Lindum CC.  Rob is currently in the top 5 run scorers in the county, with an average of over 50 and lies 3 third in the leading wicket takers list having taken 23 league wickets so far this year.

 

Appearing for the legends will be:

 

Mat Dowman, ex Nottinghamshire CCC, Derbyshire CCC & Lincolnshire CCC (2002 – 2012):

Mat started his playing career with Grantham CC and represented Lincolnshire throughout the junior age groups before being offered his first professional contract by Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club in 1993.  Mat played over 100 first class games and 143 list A games representing Nottinghamshire and latterly Derbyshire before joining Lincolnshire CCC in 2002.  A high point in Mat’s career came when representing England U19’s when he scored 267 against the West Indies.  Playing for Lincolnshire Mat played 60 games, amassed 3238 runs including 5 centuries with a highest score of 190.  In addition Mat took 84 wickets with a best of 6 for 19.

Robert Cook, ex Lincolnshire CCC (2003 – 2010)

A former captain of Lincolnshire CCC, Rob was a prolific top order batsman and part time wicket keeper.  Rob played his league cricket for Bracebridge Heath CC and was a key part of Bracebridge’s dominant sides of the early 2000’s. Rob played 30 times for the county, scored 4 centuries and jointly holds the record for the highest 5th wicket partnership for LCCC of 225 (M.Dobson 115, R Cook 148).  Rob went on to a professional rugby career that saw him play over 100 times for the Cornish pirates and appear 79 times in the premiership for Gloucester.

Oliver Burford, ex Lincolnshire CCC (1999 – 2009)

A genuine Lincs Legend who represented the county side for a decade.  Oliver was part of the Lincolnshire County side that shared the MCCA championship trophy in 2001 and won it outright in 2003. Known for his immaculate glove work and middle order stroke play, Oliver was a pivotal part of the county side representing the county 81 times.  Oliver scored 3 centuries for Lincs and jointly holds the highest 6th wicket partnership for LCCC of 223 (P.G Cook 113, O Burford 128).  In addition Oliver is the only Lincolnshire cricket in history to take over 200 catches.
