Celebrating our Volunteer Month – Part 9

In this week’s final post, our focus turns to the #raisethebat category, where we will be looking at nominees Will Taylor and Carl Stubbs.
With no annual floodlit tournament this year due to Covid, Lindum CC decided to set a challenge to its club members. The challenge was for them to cover 2020km in 24 hours by cycling, walking or running to raise money for St Barnabas Lincolnshire Hospice, MIND and Lindum Cricket Club.
In an attempt to get the club off to a strong start, in what was known as the Chase The Sun challenge, Will Taylor & Carl Stubbs decided to take the bulk of the work, setting off from Lindum Cricket Club and cycling to every Lincolnshire Premier League ground before returning home to Lindum. The route saw them visit Scunthorpe, Louth, Woodhall Spa, Boston, Market Deeping, Bourne, Grantham, Sleaford and Bracebridge Heath.
To complete this huge challenge the pair set off at sunrise and covered a staggering 644km, making it home with 13 minutes to spare, but not before encountering some horrendous weather!
After this amazing contribution, 1376km remained to be completed. The Lindum members, players, coaches and supporters smashed what was left and beat the total, ending with 2509km completed and raising more than £10,000 for their selected causes.
We would like to congratulate Will and Carl on their nomination (as well as Lindum Cricket Club as a whole) and applaud them on their fantastic efforts for charity.
